There are many ways to volunteer on a STIMMA team. No prior experience is necessary. We welcome help from everyone with or without medical experience.
In the past, we have been very fortunate to have the support of local volunteers who have helped with fundraising, packing, preparing educational brochures and gathering information. Many hours are involved to prepare for a trip. The STIMMA trips have been successful because of the generous help of many community members.
When we travel, the outpouring of help from the communities abroad is tremendous. Local people show up at the clinic to aide with transportation, translation, cooking for the team and facilitating the distribution of supplies. They also help to spread the word to ensure that the people who need the help most are able to get to the clinic. We have been fortunate to have the support of schools and universities who have generously provided students to work with us. They work along side the doctors, nurses and educators as translators to ensure comprehension.
Everyone can make a difference. Find out more on how to help by emailing us at info@stimma.org

"I got a sobering first-hand glimpse of the kind of desperate poverty and burden of illness that so many in our world face without respite. Somehow, it can be shamefully easy to overlook such things when they've only ever been a world away. Seeing that world in person brings peoples' struggles into glaring focus. It demands reflection about your own life, and on how the resources given to you might be shared more responsibly with those in need..."
